The Bentley Beetham Trust was formed, and registered with the Charities Commission, first and foremost for the long-term preservation of this Internationally important historical archive, with the further aim of providing open access to this valuable educational resource for all to enjoy.

The Heritage Lottery Fund:

This project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), one that enables communities to celebrate, look after and learn more about their diverse heritage.  HLF fund the entire spread of heritage – including buildings, museums, natural heritage, the heritage of cultural traditions and language.

Durham University:

Durham University, one of the United Kingdom’s foremost seats of learning, is a partner in this project. The original photographs and slides are housed in a properly secure and controlled environment at Palace Green Library, which is recognised as an approved repository by The National Archives  The archival quality digitised copy of the collection may be accessed at the Palace Green Library by prior appointment.  Durham University’s Oriental Museum will also be providing a dedicated computer terminal where the collection may be viewed, although this may not be in archival quality.

M G H Consultants digitised the Bentley Beetham Collection, catalogued the images and developed the website for public viewing in partnership with Axess Media. M G H Consultants focuses on the business of heritage design and is Museums, Libraries and Archives Council Supplier Training Scheme Accredited in Collections Handling, Digitisation and Website Accessibility.
